I imagine without these things, if you are used to a hard kayak, you would feel quite sluggish. Personally I'd say if you are going to be using it a lot, get one of those higher end models with the dropstitch floor and rigid elements- these help a lot in the performance department, which is important if you really want to be covering some larger bays, lakes, or whatever else. So I bought the drop stitch floor, and I'm trying it tomorrow- I've heard great things.

That being said, it is not a good performer, poor tracking and sags when fully loaded (girlfriend plus a day of supplies plus a dog). The bottom is tough and I have scraped it along rocks, and it's been just fine. I am a beginner and stick to mostly calm water. Inflation and setup take about 5 minutes, it has become very quick and easy for me. I've had it for about 3 years and it's still in very good shape.

Good build quality, portability is awesome- I actually used to just keep it in my trunk, and would sometimes just pop it in the water after work. It's basically a calm water, budget version that can be a 1- or 2-person kayak. More specifically, I have the scamper 2, which is a rebranded lagoon 2.
